"mommy brain" x 2! I think the reasoning for this forgetfulness stems initially from feeling overwhelmed and the immediate sense of responsibility you feel when becoming a parent.
Honestly though, I am not proud of the many things I have sometimes forgotten since I've become a mom, such as leaving the house for work without make-up, without putting on deodorant ( yuck), with only one ear ring on, and without brushing my teeth ( double yuck). I've also forgotten to feed the animals ( sorry guys); thankfully they have some reserve. And unfortunately one of my worst forgetful moments was during one of my many attempts at multi-tasking, when I was washing some clothes with stains in our bathroom sink and I left them to soak. Well I also left the water running and flooded the bathroom. It was to the point that water was puddling on the floor and leaking out under the kitchen/garage door into our garage. Yes, I almost can't believe I am admitting to this because it was not one of my finest moments. And the sad thing is that I did this not only once, but twice ( about 2 weeks apart)! But hey, as long as I remember the boys and their needs, then I'm doing good, right?
Well that leads to another memory on another note of forgetfulness. I've left the house before on two different occasions without a change of clothes for one of the boys and of course each of those days, were the days they had explosive bowel movements! It seems to always happen this way, when I'm least prepared. The time this happened with Core, he was an only child, and we were out for a family dinner. We had to get up and leave in between eating our appetizers and our entree and we took our meals to go! When this happened with Graham, I was actually at my 6 week postpartum follow-up doctor's appointment and Graham basically had to sit in crap for the entire visit. Once we got to the car, I found a t-shirt of Core's that I changed him in to and let him wear for the rest of our outing. That's right, I thought about going home before running our errands for the day, but our time was limited so I let Graham wear his brother's t-shirt and that alone. Hey, sometimes you just have to make do with what you've got and besides he didn't mind!
