Twas the Night Before Christmas...

We spent Christmas at home in Baton Rouge because Daddy had to work.  So this was our first family Christmas at our own house.  Nana, Papa Bob , and Aunt Ally came to visit and we had a great time just relaxing and hanging out.  Well that is as much relaxing as you can do when you're cooking, wrapping, planning etc.  But honestly is was a great holiday and we were so glad to have family in town to celebrate with us.
Core dressed up in his cute Christmas train outfit from Gammie and Poppie.

On Christmas Eve, Nana, Papa Bob, Core and I attended the 11:00 am Christmas Children Service at our church, while Chris was working.  This is a Christmas service geared towards families with children, so you go knowing it will not be the quietest service you've ever attended.  Well it was an experience for us!  Core usually goes to his children's class when Chris and I go to the " big church", so this was an adjustment for him.  About 15 minutes into the service i thought we were going to have to leave because Core was not cooperating, but  Nana did a great job keeping him occupied by letting him play with various objects in her purse. Thanks Nana, you came prepared and we appreciated it.

Since Chris worked for Christmas Eve and Christmas, we celebrated this year a little different so that Daddy wouldn't miss Core opening any of his presents from Santa.  Of course we still celebrated Jesus's birthday on his actually birthday and had a family Christmas dinner, but we pretended Christmas night was actually Christmas Eve for Core and then we did Christmas morning the following day ( Dec. 26) when Chris and I were both off together.  I guess this is how you make it work when both parents work in the medical field and one of us working the holiday is always a given. Luckily Core is young enough, that he didn't even know the difference and didn't skip a beat.  To him, he had 3 days of opening presents basically because we let him open family presents on Christmas Eve and Christmas night, til Santa came the next morning.  Thankfully Nana, Papa Bob, and Aunt Ally were all flexible with adjusting when Santa came as well... thank you!
