Mommy's Project 52:1 Teaching

My dear friend Kelly recently asked her friends to join in a blogging project that was actually started by one of my kindergarten through highschool classmates and fellow "Lee Roadian".  I thought it would be fun and I unofficially joined the project.  The project is called "The Mommy's Project 52", and basically each week you post something, anything about a set weekly topic over the next year and share it with friends and family to enjoy.  I thought what better way to have a little insight into my own life than to reflect upon each of these weekly topics. So here goes...
"Waking up Happy"
Week 1: Teaching

While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.
~Angela Schwindt

"Mommy why are u taking pictures so early in the monring?"
When I think about teaching and learning, I immediately think of my parents and "parenthood".  Afterall, my parents taught me the basis of what I know today by setting the foundation for all my learning experiences through the years. I am so thankful to my parents for all the guidance, love, support, advice ( whether we agreed or disagreed) and patience they have given me through the years.

Chris and I have talked about this topic many times since becoming parents and PARENTHOOD honestly made us step back and truly appreciate our parents SO MUCH, even more than we already did ( which was a LOT)!  So thank you to our parents for EVERYTHING!  I'm sure many new parents have similar feelings and thoughts when they become parents and realize they're responsible for a new little life, that's all their own. It is through our parents that we learn to become teachers for our own children.

It's incredible to me that the human mind continues to learn and process more and more info each and every day, even when you're sleep deprived from being up on call 4 out of 7 nights, and up the other 3 of those 7 nights with your fussy 18 month old ,who's cutting 4 molars at the same time. No matter what the day or night may bring there is still a lesson to be learned or taught ( depending on how you look at it).  Parenthood has truly taught me so much about myself ( the good and the not so good that needs a little work) that I guess I always knew, but it took a special little someone, Core, to help me see it!

At the end of the day though, I think children are the best teachers and the greatest blessing.
In the midst of this sometimes hectic world, I've learned that FAMILY, FRIENDS, FAITH, LOVE, and GOD are what matters most. And I am so thankful for my amazing husband (and best friend), my sweet baby boy, our families, and our friends!
